South Africa

On the 30th of January 2019 we started our trip to South Africa, where we visited Isak's family in Stilbaai, a small town on the southern coast of South Africa. Being able to spend time with Isak's family was a blessing to us because we don’t get to visit them a lot. We spent our time fishing, enjoying the warm sun on the beach, and doing some day trips, even surfing a few times. It was a great joy to us when Réhuel (Isak's older brother) and his girlfriend arrived from China and spent a week with us in Stilbaai. Now the Combrinck family was reunited after three years.

During our time in South Africa, Isak and I had the opportunity to help with some humanitarian projects. We visited a township school in Melkhoutfontein that helps the kids with their homework and gives them a hot meal. There we taught the children arithmetic and showed them how to write the numbers correctly. This was a unique experience and gave us a lot of joy. It's amazing to see how much you can do in a short time.

Next, I got the opportunity to model for the Spring 2019 Collection of Love Your Neighbor. It was a great honor for me because I can fully support the vision and work of Love Your Neighbor. The shoot was really fun and it was great to get to know David and Michael in person. I would like to thank Love Your Neighbor again for the great moments and photos.

A few days later, we were allowed to go with Love Your Neighbor on an outreach in the Dunoon Township. We distributed school supplies and toys in a school for children with AIDS and spent some time with them. It was a touching experience and warmed my heart to see how much joy the kids had in the things we brought them. Next we painted a fence with at another school. It's amazing how much of a difference a bit of color can make.

We have been in South Africa for five weeks and will stay here until the 12th of March. What we do after that, we will tell you now. Isak and I will fly to Namibia on the 12th of March, where we will do our first mission mission with OM (Operation Mobilization). The outreach lasts a total of four weeks and consists of a teaching and outreach phase. The goal is to apply what you have learned and tell the people of Namibia about God. We are curious what to expect and look forward to the adventure with God.

It is a wish of ours to bless the people along the way through providing for their needs. If you would like to support the people we are reaching out to or our missionary work financially, you are welcome to send us a message and we will let you know how you can get involved.
